Mid-week update

It is already Wednesday and I feel like this week is just flying by.  I have been working away on some new things so in the meantime, I will not be posting as often.  Eventually, all of these things will lead to a better blog and site content but in the meantime please stick with me :)

I did want to share with you all a little quick tip on Pillow covers.  This week I have been making some pillows for our daybed (tutorial to come in a later post) but I wanted to give a little tip first about an easy way to save some money on pillows.

As you can see here I have an old pillow and the trim is falling apart and looking very sad. :)

I did a little investigating with my seam ripper and some scissors to verify if this pillow was stuffed with Batting/filler, or a pillow insert.  To my delight, it was a pillow insert with all its filling (feathers, batting, etc) self contained.

I then went at the seam and continued to rip it apart in order to take the pillow insert out and Ta-Da!!  I have saved a pillow and now can recover it with the fabric of my choice!!  This pillow would have ended up a the local thrift store otherwise.

When I make pillow covers I always put a Invisible zipper in which allows me to change out the covers for each season or whenever I choose.  This takes a little extra time and money but in the end it is worth it.

More on all my pillow covers later and how a Shower Curtain gave me the inspiration I was lacking.
